ORD — As part of an effort to increase tourism in Valley County, the tourism committee is looking for ways to help visitors.
One idea that has been suggested are kiosks with information on what’s open and when. “A reason why we’re looking at these is because the chamber office is closed on weekends and most of our tourists come through on weekends,” explains Jane John of the tourism committee.
“The businesses that are open can tell them what’s going on and where to go, but a lot of people aren’t educated on how to do that or get into that conversation.”
The idea would be to have them in Ord, Elyria, North Loup and Arcadia.
Still, there are a couple of issues. The inside kiosks can be expensive and outdoor ones, even more so. Plus, there is the question on where they could go that could be accessible to passers-by 24/7.
The committee plans on looking into this and exploring other ideas to boost travel to Valley County.
