ELBA — This Friday in Elba, the NFL is honoring one of the school’s own.
Randy Rasmussen and the school will be receiving a golden football to commemorate his part in Super Bowl III in 1969 as a member of the New York Jets. They beat the Baltimore Colts for the title.
The NFL is honoring anyone who has played in a Super Bowl across the country by giving their high school a golden football ahead of Super Bowl 50 next month.
An open house presentation begins in the school gym at 3:00 PM for the exchange of the football. A meet-and-greet with Rasmussen will be held at 5:30 PM during the home basketball games.
He was part of the Elba Class of 1963.
