LINCOLN — If a measure moves through the Nebraska legislature, a new court would be established to focus on solely veteran issues.
Veteran treatment courts have been popping up around the country to treat current and former service members who are charged with minor offenses and suffering from service-related injuries.
This includes post-traumatic stress disorder.
The program would begin as a three-year pilot in Douglas County. From there, the Nebraska Supreme Court will decide whether to expand it to other parts of the state.
