BURWELL — Keep Loup Basin Beautiful has invited area schools to join in on a crayon recycling program.
The group is collecting crayons to be sent to a location in Colorado and be reused. The idea came after the program did a similar drive with markers last year.
Organizers say this is a nice for a product that might otherwise be thrown out. “This is a great way of being able to reuse those to make what they call a crazy crayon, so it’s like multi-colored and everything,” says KLBB’s Amy Hughes. “It’s a good reduce, reuse, recycle.”
So far schools in Burwell, Loup City, Spalding, Scotia and Cedar Rapids are among those involved, but Hughes says anybody can join. If you or your organization is interested you can contact Keep Loup Basin Beautiful for more information.
