ORD — A former county surveyor has accepted a $10,000 offer from Valley County to settle a billing dispute.
Miller & Associates, out of Kearney, sent an invoice to the county in February of 2015 for more than $16,000. This came a couple of months after they weren’t reappointed as surveyor.
Some of the charges on the bill were more than a year old, while others were rejected by the county because they had not been notified that the work was being done.
In an attempt to reconcile, Miller sent a new invoice for about $15,800 a few months later. Still, the county objected to some of the charges and instead sent the $10,000 to settle the issue.
