LINCOLN — A York woman will have to serve her two to four year prison sentence after it was upheld by a Nebraska Appeals Court.
Brenda Hines was convicted last year on four counts, including one for trafficking drugs in her home. She claimed the home was the “Temple of Zion”, where God provided the drugs she sold.
Hines’ appeal was based on the sentence violating her religious freedom right. The court didn’t address this issue, saying she failed to cite any authority as to how her sentence violating that right.
