ORD — The Ord Board of Education has decided to use a $30,000 EPA grant to purchase two buses.
The district was one of two in Nebraska chosen in December as part of an effort to clean older, diesel buses. The other school was Auburn.
The cost of the buses is expected to be about $90,000 and those will be financed monthly.
As part of accepting the grant, the school has to replace two of the older vehicles. This goes as far as drilling a hole in the engine block.
Nationwide, more than $7 million was awarded from the EPA for this program.
