LINCOLN –A proposal in the legislature is designed to get road projects done faster, but some lawmakers don’t think it’s realistic.
The measure creates a transportation infrastructure bank to finance road projects.
The Nebraska Department of Roads could use the money for highway projects, a county bridge grant program and other infrastructure plans.
Members of the unicameral’s appropriations committee voiced concerns about how much the bill would cost. The plan is to use $150 million from the state’s cash reserve to jump-start the program.
