LINCOLN — A survey shows bankers are starting to view the rural economy in Nebraska’s part of the country more favorably.
The Rural Mainstreet Index rose to 37.0 in February, up from 34.8 in January. Any score above 50 shows growth, while below suggests decline.
The survey is run by economists at Creighton University. They says it’s the sixth straight month the index has been below 50.
The data is based on information from bankers in Nebraska and nine other midewest and plains states.
