LINCOLN — A bill has won first-round approval in the Nebraska Legislature that is designed to prevent foster children from being alienated.
Nebraska has received criticism for the amount of restrictions placed on foster children and the people they associate with. For example, background checks are required for everyone at a home if the child wants to attend a sleepover.
The bill would lessen these restrictions and let the child pick the advocate who could argue for more flexibility on a case-by-case basis.
