LINCOLN — Senators in the Nebraska Legislature voted this week to return a measure that would have the state join a national campaign to limit the federal government.
This means it’s unlikely to see any more activity this year.
The measure would add Nebraska’s support to a campaign calling for a convention of states to amend the U.S. Constitution. A convention requires 34 states to call for one.
Opponents say the resolution does not clearly define the process for selecting delegates or limit the topics the convention will cover.
On the other side, supporters argue the measure would give more power to citizens to oversee the federal government and the courts.
