LINCOLN — New state revenue projections show Nebraska senators will have more money than expected this session.
The economic advisory board projected the state will collect $9 billion during the current two-year budget cycle. This means lawmakers will have $14.1 million for additional legislation compared to the $1.4 million that was at their disposal before these estimates.
Board members say farm economy is continuing to struggle, but a worker shortage is causing wages to rise. In addition, the local economies of Lincoln and Omaha are showing positive signs.
