ORD — Schools, kids and fans crammed into the Ord Gym this week for another Misko Mania.
The basketball tournament is held every year for kids in fourth through eighth grade. Teams from Boone Central, Central City, Riverside, Central Valley, Pleasanton, Ord, Burwell, Grand Island, Ansley-Litchfield and Amherst were among those participating.
Organizers says it’s a great way to bring communities together. “It fits our community well. We were able to keep it on Saturday this year and off of Sunday,” says Ord Elementary Principal Doug Smith. “Teams appreciate that, especially not having to come back a second day.”
“They get here, we get it in and it’s a fun day,” Smith adds.
This year about 450 kids made up 48 teams. All-in-all, more than 50 games were played.
