LINCOLN — A ballot measure to ensure farming rights in Nebraska has stalled in a legislative committee.
The right-to-farm proposal didn’t muster enough support to move on. It would have guaranteed the right to engage in farming and ranching practices by preventing the legislature from passing regulations without a compelling state interest.
Opponents worried that the language was too broad.
Similar measures have passed in South Dakota and Missouri.
