ORD — The grass on Ord’s Johnson Field will soon be replaced with clay dirt in the infield.
The request was approved by the City Council this week.
The idea is to make the field playable and safe for a range of age groups. The dirt is imported from Plattsmouth and estimated to cost about $2,000. Much of that will be paid for through organizations like the American Legion.
The effort is similar to what Burwell did to its field last year.
