LINCOLN — A proposal has been given first round approval in the Nebraska Legislature that would relax weight and load restrictions for farm equipment on Nebraska roads.
This exempts tractors, combine, fertilizer spreaders and other heavy farm implements from restrictions of state roads.
Supporters include the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation and the Nebraska Cattlemen Association. They say the current rules haven’t kept pace with modern farm equipment.
Still, some worry about additional damage being caused to roads.
Even if the bill passes, current restrictions would remain in place for bridges.
