ORD — This weekend the Ord Boxing Club is holding the 2016 Dan Klimek Boxing Show.
This is the second year for the event. Last year, it was a standing room only crowd to come and support Dan along with local boxers.
“Probably every single coach has either worked with Dan or knows Dan, same with the officials and the judges,” says organizer Cherish Gregory. “We’re a very close-knit boxing family.”
“Dan is a very well-liked and respected coach in our boxing community, as well as our local community,” she adds.
This year, about 30 bouts are set with boxers from Nebraska and surrounding states. That includes a special highlighted fight where two defending champions from the super heavyweight bracket and will compete for a title belt. This features Raymond Bernt from Spalding against Clyde Johnson from Iowa.
Doors open at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 19th at the St. Mary’s School Gym in Ord.
