LINCOLN — Two budget proposals have been given first-round approval in the Nebraska Legislature.
The $8.7 billion package is aimed at fulfilling current state obligations and investing in areas long-term. This includes assisting the Department of Correctional Services.
Still, some senators are concerned about the number of smaller spending items tucked into the proposal.
Senators vote twice more before the package gets sent to Governor Ricketts.
