KEARNEY — At a meeting of member schools, Kearney Catholic was voted out of the LouPlatte Conference.
The Stars were the only non-public school in the group. That made some member schools say there is a competitive advantage for Kearney Catholic due to its ability to recruit, offer scholarships, and not be bound to the same socio-economic restrictions as its public counterparts.
Members of the LouPlatte hinted before the vote that, should Kearney Catholic be voted out, they would look to fill the spot with another school.
The other schools in the conference are Ord, Arcadia/Loup City, St. Paul, Adams Central, Doniphan-Trumbull, Wood River, Ravenna, Gibbon and Centura.
