LINCOLN — Voluntary emergency responders could see a tax credit under a bill that was won first-round approval in the legislature.
The idea is to offer a $250 credit for responders to claim on state income taxes.
The bill is by 43rd District Senator Al Davis to assist these volunteers, especially in rural areas where he says their services are more needed.
If it passes, the proposal would go into effect in January 2017 and cost the state $2.2 million.
