The Nebraska-Kearney women’s golf team has been picked sixth in the 2021 MIAA preseason coaches’ poll.
The league’s 11 head coaches vote on the makeup of the poll and cannot vote for their own team.
UNK received 56 points to trail Central Missouri (90), Rogers State (84), Central Oklahoma (83), and Northeastern State (82). UCM received five first place votes with RSU, UCO and NSU each picking up a pair. The NSU RiverHawks placed first at the 2018-19 league championship tournament with last year’s season being canceled due to the pandemic.
Among the Lopers seven players are senior Nia Station (Omaha Burke), redshirt junior Lacie Fox (Beemer), and junior Faviola Gonzalez (Cayey, P.R.).
No MIAA school played in the fall of 2020; the Lopers first scheduled tournament comes March 8-9 in Arizona. The 2021 MIAA women’s golf championship is slated for April 22-23 in Bartlesville, Okla.
