An Alda man has a warrant out for his arrest of stealing irrigation copper wire. Officers said that 56-year-old Charles Swisher is charged with six counts of felony theft, five counts of felony criminal mischief and six counts of trespassing. Hall County Court records indicate Swisher is connected to irrigation wire thefts at eight Hall County farms west of Grand Island. he is believed to have sold 2,521 pounds of copper wire and 244 pounds of so-called Bare Bright wire to an Omaha scrap metal dealer for an estimated $11,000. An informant told investigators that he was with Swisher on about six occasions when pivot was stolen from farms in Hall County. Investigators have found spools of wire and tools used to cut and strip wire in Swisher’s pickup. Last week a judge in Hall County issued a warrant for Swisher’s arrest and the Hall County Sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in locating him.
