The Grand Island Police department received a call of an out of control patient that was trashing a hospital and threatened to kill nurses on Wednesday night. They say that Gerald Carrabba even threw coffee on officers and also kicked and scratched them at CHI St. Francis. Police received the call at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday after nurses had barricaded themselves inside a room after Carrabba had a violent outburst in which he destroyed multiple monitors, pieces of the floor, a bladder scanner and caused much more damage. The nurses also said he did all this while running around with a large piece of wood and yelling, “I’m going to kill you.” When the officers arrived he had caused $6,225 in damages. The charges he faces include criminal mischief, terroristic threats, and assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
