On Monday a Hastings man died at CHS Agri Services Center in Roseland after a grain silo accident. The Adam’s County Sheriff’s Office has said that 34-year-old Travis Thelander was pronounced dead upon recovery after he became trapped in a corn silo after falling in on the CHS property. Thelander was a worker for CHS and since this is a workplace death the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified. Multiple fire and rescue agencies reported to assisted with the rescue efforts including crews form Hastings, Holstein, and Roseland. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office along with the Adams County Emergency Management are investigation the incident as well. How Thelander got trapped in silo remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
