On Saturday it was announced an inmate at the Work Ethic Camp died. Officials have said the inmate was 47-year-old Robert Weindorff after being taken to a McCook hospital. Weindorff began his sentence at WEC on February 2, 2022 after he been charged with possession and distribution of a controlled substance out of Buffalo County. The sentence he was serving was three to ten years and forty-five days. Not cause of death has been determined yet by officials but he was being treated for a medical condition that he was receiving care for at the time. Since he died in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Corrections a grand jury will conduct an investigation into the death.
