According to Grand Island Police, they received a report of gunshots at around 5:40 a.m. in the 400 block of East 1st St. Once officers arrived at the scene they heard more gunshots coming from the residence. They said that a woman and a child were able to escape the residence unharmed. 26-year-old Isaac Aragon was arrested after he broke out one of the windows and emerged from the residence with a firearm and threw it when police commanded him to. GIPD Capt. Jim Duering said that Aragon was suffering from intoxication and a mixture of medication in his system at the time of the incident. Bullet holes were observed in the home include some in the door to the child’s bedroom. Aragon is facing 14 counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, eight counts of intentional child abuse that didn’t result in injury, and six counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm.
