Initiative 433 passed in Nebraska where it received 59% of the vote and will plan to gradually increases the states minimum wage from $9 an hour to $15 an hour by 2026. The minimum wage will increase $1.50 a year on Jan 1st which means it will increase to $10.50 in 2023, $12 in 2024, $13.50 in 2025, and $15 in 2026. Once the $15 minimum is reached in 2026 that wage will be annually adjusted to fit the cost of living. This increase would mean minimum wage workers will see a rise in their bi-weekly pay from $720 to $840 an increase that will amount to $3,120 annually. There are many other state who will have $15 an hour minimum wage by 2026 and those include California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington state. Two states that are neighbors to Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas, still have minimum wages of $7.25 an hour.
