Nebraska will receive $231,975 as part of a multistate settlement with Menards, according to Mike Hilgers. The settlement resolves claims dating back to 2020 that alleged the home improvement retailer improperly marketed its Menards 11% Rebate Program. As part of the agreement, Menards has committed to more clearly explaining the limitations of its rebate program, fully disclosing all terms and conditions in an easily accessible way, and clearly identifying that rebate processing is handled under the name Rebates International.
In addition, the company agreed to give customers at least one year from the date of purchase to submit rebate claims and to improve transparency through its online rebate tracker. Under the settlement terms, Menards will update the tracker within 48 hours of a rebate being entered into the system and provide ongoing updates, including notices when product returns affect rebate eligibility. Nebraska joined several other states in the settlement, including Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
