Authorities in Adams County say a 15-month-old child was discovered alive in a roadside ditch last fall, prompting an ongoing multi-agency investigation. According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, a passerby found the child near the 2000 block of South Marian Road in rural Adams County on the morning of Oct. 4, 2025, and contacted authorities just after 8 a.m.
Deputies responded to the scene, and Hastings Fire and Rescue transported the child to a local hospital for medical treatment. The child’s identity has not been released due to privacy concerns.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that a suspect identified as Hendrick was arrested Tuesday in connection with the case. An Adams County judge has since sealed court records containing details of the incident.
The investigation involves multiple agencies, including the Nebraska State Patrol, Hastings Police Department, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, the Adams County Attorney’s Office and the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office. Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
