CHI Health St. Francis announced plans to temporarily relocate its inpatient Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center from Grand Island to Kearney while long-term options are explored locally. The program currently operates out of leased space at the CHI Health St. Francis Medical Plaza, the former Lutheran hospital building on West Faidley Avenue, which must be vacated by June 30. During the transition, inpatient services will move to CHI Health Richard Young Behavioral Health, a licensed facility equipped to support patients with substance use disorders. According to CHI Health St. Francis, staffing and patient care will continue without interruption, and outpatient addiction services will remain in Grand Island. Hospital officials emphasized that the treatment center is not closing and said the move is temporary while a permanent Grand Island location is identified and customized to meet strict program requirements. Details on the timing of the relocation and future plans for the Grand Island program are expected to be announced soon.
