A quiet early morning walk turned into a police matter Tuesday in Grand Island, resulting in the arrest of one man.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers were called to the area of North Eddy Street around 2:14 a.m. after a loud verbal argument between a man and a woman drew the attention of nearby residents.
When officers arrived, the two individuals — identified as Kevin Boney and his wife — were already separated on opposite sides of the street. Authorities say the situation had been heated enough to prompt a call to police.
During the interaction, officers followed standard procedure by asking questions to assess the situation and check for any potential weapons. Boney informed officers that he had a pocket knife, and he agreed to a search.
Police say the search uncovered marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Boney was taken into custody and is facing charges including possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony, along with additional infractions for marijuana and paraphernalia possession. His wife was not arrested.
Authorities noted that the incident serves as a reminder that loud disturbances — particularly in the early morning hours — can quickly draw attention, especially during times of year when windows are open in residential areas.
