Grand Island police are searching for a suspect following a reported assault Friday night on the city’s west side.
Authorities say a 32-year-old man told officers he was struck in the head with a small metal baton during an incident at a residence on West 13th Street around 9:20 p.m.
According to Grand Island Police Division Chief Dean Elliott, investigators have identified the suspect, and an arrest warrant has been issued. The suspect was no longer at the scene when officers arrived.
The victim declined medical transport following the incident.
Police say once the suspect is taken into custody, he is expected to face charges of second-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
