Following severe weather that moved through the area Monday evening, Aug. 17, Ord Public Schools will be closed Tuesday as officials assess storm damage and evaluate travel conditions.
“Ord Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, Aug. 18 to allow time to assess storm damage and to ensure safe travel routes to school for walkers, car riders, and bus routes,” the district stated in an online announcement.
The district’s first day of school for students has been pushed to Wednesday, Aug. 19. Students will have an early dismissal at 1 p.m. that day.
A severe thunderstorm, accompanied by a tornado warning, was reported near the Ord community around 9 p.m. Monday. In the aftermath, Region 26 Emergency Management reported that multiple power lines were down throughout the community.
