A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Buffalo County Recreation Area at Ravenna Lake to celebrate the opening of two new pickleball courts.
The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. on the east side of Ravenna Lake, near the new courts just off Maple Road.
Construction on the two pickleball courts began in August 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to expand recreational amenities at Ravenna Lake, an area that has experienced increased use in recent years.
Buffalo County Facilities Director Steve Gaasch said the lake has seen a steady rise in campers since 2019. By the end of September 2025, camper numbers had increased 40 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
The campground offers 41 RV campsites, including primitive sites and those equipped with electrical and water hookups. Ravenna Lake also provides fishing opportunities, with the lake stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill.
Additional amenities include a bathhouse with shower facilities, which was added in 2022. The new pickleball courts mark another addition to the recreational options available to visitors.
